People Builders Programs

New: Housing Behavioral Modification Diversion Program

Just launched in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA), this program employs a positive mindset diversion plan that aims to transition residents at risk of eviction from an "I can't" attitude to an "I can" attitude. By targeting learned behaviors, the program seeks to foster better decision-making and positive outcomes for tenants:

  • Gain a practical and thorough knowledge of the Leasing Agreement and tenant rights

  • Ensure that a family’s home is clean, safe, and cared for

  • Skills to set a family budget, and manage it with discipline to maintain, grow, and set attainable goals for saving money

  • Become tenants who are in compliance with their lease and have a working relationship with their landlords

MSK & MBK

My Sistah's Keeper & My Brotha's Keeper

My Sistah's Keeper (MSK) and My Brotha's Keeper (MBK) initiatives provide the support and guidance for women and men to address unresolved generational root trauma to reach their full potential and transition from dependency to self-sufficiency.

Sessions run twice a year in the spring and fall and participants will:

  • Commit to attending all 8 sessions (plus 1 offsite team-building event and a graduation ceremony) where they will engage in training and learning about: self-reflection; identifying and healing childhood, generational and systemic trauma; healthy conflict resolution; financial planning and much more

  • Complete a motivational interview process and set a SMART goal plan to achieve by the end of the sessions

  • Work with a "Guider" who will encourage and challenge each participant during their MSK experience and several months after to ensure accountability in reaching their goals

  • Learn from mental health professionals and trained facilitators how to transform their lives
